Volunteering

the Kenilworth Centre and Radio Abbey rely on our wonderful volunteers, would you like to join our team? 

Whilst volunteers can never replace paid staff, they have a vital role in making the Kenilworth Centre a vibrant community building that delivers much-needed services for both young and older people in the area.

Maybe you are thinking of returning back to the world of work or develop new skills to add to your CV? Perhaps you have always had an interest in radio and broadcasting?

We’re currently looking for volunteers to help with:

Pop Up Cafe 

tKC Pop Up cafe is a school holiday provision to open up space in the centre to families to access low cost refreshments, activities for children including pool, table football, table tennis, arts and crafts and outdoor use of the sports court for basketball, football, tennis and badminton. 

Volunteer Role –  Responsibilities will include: making and serving refreshments, clearing and cleaning up and engaging with customers to share information about activities onsite.

Board Game Hub 

Overview – Board Games Hub is a partnership event between tKC and Compassionate Kenilworth. Free to access Board Games space with a low cost cafe for anyone to attend. Play games and make friendships. 

Volunteer Role –  Responsibilities include: Setting up and clearing away at start and end of session. Serving refreshments and engaging with attendees. Joining in the games and fun.

Dinners & Music Sunday’s 

Our Dinners and Music  Sunday’s are a grant funded partnership community event between tKC, Cook ltd and Compassionate Kenilworth. Free to access community dinners for anyone to book in and attend.  Donations welcomed.  Live music, good food and social connection. 

Volunteer Role –  Responsibilities include: Setting up and clearing down before and after the event.

Assisting in the kitchen with basic food preparation. Serving food to participants. Engaging with participants and musicians and making them feel welcome. 

Garden Tidy Up 

tKC has a small community garden that is tended carefully but we need help to maintain the rest of the grounds.  Our garden needs a gentle weed and the rest of the grounds need a bit of tlc.  This might include weeding, clearing, pruning, litter picking and general tidying. 

Volunteer Role –  Responsibilities include: weeding, clearance, planting, pruning, litter picking.

Recycling Volunteer 

Overview – tKC have a comprehensive recycling scheme and we are looking for a volunteer to commit to sorting recycling on a monthly basis.  We collect hard to recycle plastics and convert this into funds to run youth wellbeing projects at the centre.  

Volunteer Role –  Attend tKC for a minimum of two hours once a month to sort donated recycling.

Youth CLub Volunteers 

tKC Youth Provision spans short courses during week nights and a traditional Friday night youth club. We are looking for volunteers to assist with our delivery. All volunteers will need to undertake Safeguarding training and have DBS clearance. 

Volunteer Role  Youth Club Volunteers assist the Activities Lead to deliver our youth club for young people. Assist with various sports and leisure activities (e.g. table tennis, pool), supporting the young people attending the club to participate and engage. SUpport Youth Club staff to deliver on topic sessions, provide support with tuck shop, arts & crafts and engage with young people and be a positive role model.
