Sustainability
At the Kenilworth Centre, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact while ensuring our space remains accessible, affordable and welcoming for the whole community. Sustainability is an important part of our long-term strategy, helping us balance financial resilience with environmental responsibility.
In 2024–2025, we took a significant step forward through a successful bid to the DCMS VCSE Energy Grant, enabling us to invest in major energy-efficiency improvements across the building. These works included the installation of solar panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, and upgraded ceiling and window insulation.
Completed in early 2025, these improvements made a meaningful difference. By reducing heat loss and improving energy efficiency, we have lowered our overall energy consumption, cut carbon emissions, and created a more comfortable environment for our users. In March 2025 alone, the Centre saved over 610kg of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to planting nearly 37 trees..pdf)
These changes also contribute to our financial sustainability by reducing utility costs and re-distributing the fund to community activities including Youth Clubs and Courses, Family community events such as pop-up cafe and community dinner. This has also allowed us to ensure we can continue to offer affordable space for local groups, charities and businesses.
We remain committed to building on this progress—exploring new ways to reduce our environmental footprint while supporting the wellbeing of our community.
